1956 – Attempt on Fred Shuttlesworth’s life. 16 sticks of dynamite were put under his bedroom window. House damaged, but he survived.
1957 – Attempt on Fred Shuttlesworth’s life. Attacked by Klansman for trying to enroll children in all White school. Beaten in street with chains and brass knuckles. Fred lost consciousness, but he survived.
1958 – Attempt on Fred Shuttlesworth’s life. Bombing attempt. Church member noticed and moved away before it went off. Again, Fred survived.
And then decided to keep surviving for 53 more years.
